Soft, white paws slid down the grassy ground, their blades licking his legs and tail. He hadn't been this far in ThunderClan since he was kit, and even then he had been careful to keep away from the borders of WindClan. Ever since their alliance with ShadowClan, WindClan had become stronger, but Ashstar knew it was a fake strength. Who could be strong when they knew what they were doing was wrong?

Ashstar had tried to help RiverClan, but the clan of loners took no heed to his warning about ShadowClan. Ashstar knew Autumstar well, and she knew she would not put up with a Clan full of loners. But weren't we all loners once? Ashstar thought. In the tales that had been told about the Clans, elders explained that the three Clans had travelled together from a far off land to escape the dogs.

The broad leader sat and waited. Claritystar was supposed to meet him here. Ireheart, the loyal warrior to RiverClan, was also supposed to come but he was not sure. For some reason, Ireheart had been the only one who had listened to Ashstar, even though he knew he could do nothing for his Clan. Only now, Ashstar could wait.

&&.well she's not bleeding on the ballroom floor just for the ATTENTION

The small, ginger pawsteps of a leader cat made it across the borders to reach her destination; ThunderClan. She could smell not only the one who had requested her attendance, Ashstar, but another, sharper scent, belonging to a RiverClan tom cat. Claritystar was not hostile to the scent; she took it in and made her way towards it, her tail raised and her eyes shining with her own dug up confidence.

Claritystar had no idea why she needed to attend this secret clan meeting, but she was pumped with adreniline, and was totally ready to see what was up. Coming into view, she settled down in a cozy spot a few fox lengths away from the two others on a large gray stone. Snorting, she blinked, batting her eyes at both of the cats.

No greeting passed her lips, and by the way her body was, totally erect against the ground, she meant business. Her calico tail drummed against the ground, and her teal eyes searched the depths of Ashstar's pelt hastily, as if something with in the depths of the colors of his coat would give her a clue as to what was going on.

The unfamiliar scents of ThunderClan flooded Ireheart's nostril's as he slowly padded across the border of WindClan. It was easy sneaking through their territory unnoticed, since he had smelled them in ShadowClan territory on his way.

A few days earlier, the leader of ThunderClan, Ashstar, had warned RiverClan that ShadowClan was going to attack them. They were the newest Clan of the forest, yet they were all a bunch of loners. Apparently, Autumnstar wasn't that of a kind leader, so she had plans for the vulnerable Clan. No one had taken the threat seriously. No one, but Ireheart.

As Ireheart drew nearer to a clearing, the familiar scent of Ashstar caught his nose, aswell as a clearer, more crisp scent. Silently, he padded up behind Ashstar and the other cat. "Greetings, Ashstar."

ooc: don't forget, sparrow, WindClan wants rc out.

Ashstar stood tall before the two cats. Welcome, he muttered dryly. It was not an offense, but merely the way he spoke. Nodding to his fellow leader, he bowed his head politely. How do the prey run, Claritystar? Secretly, he was very fond of the female WindClanner. If she wasn't from another Clan, than he would be her mate.

Lifting his head, he turned to Ireheart. Hello, good friend. He did not expect a welcome from the RiverClanner, but nodded nonetheless. RiverClan had been a tricky Clan to manage. There was no deputy, no leader, and the camp was chaotic. Even Ashstar knew that there was darkness in Ireheart's chest, but he decided to treat him like any other cat.

Claritystar. His green audits scanned the frail body of the WindClanner. What made you join ShadowClan? Why do you want RiverClan driven out? Secretly, Ashstar knew the answer. The lack of land and prey had made WindClan turn to ShadowClan, but in his eyes, it was unacceptable.

Claritystar was the other cat. And by what Ireheart had just heard, the leader of WindClan. Even though he could feel the waves of hostility radiating from the smaller femme's body, Irestar respectfully dipped his head. He searched her eyes, for any clue as to what she was about to say, but found none.

"So, Ashstar, why is it that you have asked me here today?" Ireheart could tell that it was Ashstar's attempt to make the other two Clans leave RiverClan in peace, though he asked anyway. Why wasn't Ashstar being so hostile? Why had he chosen to help the new Clan? Was there more to Ashstar that met the eye?

Claritysar turned her attention to the muscular clan leader. She gave her head a small nod, listening to his small talk amongst the cats. "Eh, they run. Not well, but the prey still seem in a suitable stock amount." Claritystar mewed, her voice small as she admired the tom-cat's body, glancing over it and smiling a little.

Claritystar did not pose a question back to Ashstar, though it would have been the polite thing to do. Taking her usual route, Claritystar remained nearly totally silent, her ears perked upwards to catch the other cats conversing.

Claritystar was surprised that Ashstar did not speak to the other cats, much. He gave only a little small talk, then turned back to her, his attention on her. Her reason for being invited was instantly clear as he spoke to her, his low, intimidating voice oddly soothing to her, easing a reply to his posed questions.

"I joined ShadowClan so I could have somebody fall back on! RiverClan needs to be out! There were meant to be three clans in the forest; there is not anymore territory to house all three!" Claritystar blurted these words out, then shot an almost apologetic look at Ireheart.

Claritystar's paws shuffled once more, and she blushed. "Everyone knows that WindClan is on the verge of being pushed out of our territory. Our clan can't take anymore hits like that; RiverClan's arrival is only shoving us out of the territory that we belong! RiverClan has to go." Claritystar said, her voice sweet, still, as she turned to Ireheart. Claritystar had always been fond of Ashstar; it was only natural for her to be able to show her emotions in front of him.

"Sorry." Claritystar mewed to Ireheart, her eyes a little feirce, a little sweet.

Relief flooded over the tom. So RiverClan was safe. Smiling, he bowed his head again, trying to channel as much respect as he could to the noble RiverClanner. Tell Claritystar what it is like in RiverClan. He spoke the words but did not take his eyes off of the kind WindClanner. Although his voice was sweet, it had a small demanding edge to it.

Again, he looked at Claritystar. He could not see any hardness in Ire's face, but he was not looking at Ireheart completely. He seemed to be perplexed with the WindClan leader. Yes, he said softly. We are leaders, and as leaders we do what is best for our Clan and our home. It is true that ThunderClan has plenty of territory, and we do not intend on ever being driven out.

But don't you see?
His voice now turned into a sort of beg. I had a vision this would happen! Starclan sent it to me. If RiverClan wasn't meant to be here, what explains the new tree growing in Threetrees? The tree was only a sapling, but it was gaining height fast. Ashstar knew there had to be a connection.

Ireheart scowled at the petite leader, yet remained clam. If there was one thing he didn't want to do, it was to give Claritystar more reason to drive his Clan out. But he also didn't want to look weak. Ever since Ireheart was a kit, he was a proud tom, and he wasn't about to change that now.

"RiverClan has posed no threat to WindClan, Claritystar, and I doubt we will, seeing as we have our own territory. Our camp is a wet marshy island by the river. It is filled with twoleg garbage, and StarClan knows what else." Ireheart surprised himself by mentioning StarClan even though he wasn't a proper Clan cat.

He glanced over at Ashstar who seemed lost looking at Claritystar. He shook his head, and then suddenly actually heard what Ashstar had said. "Um, what is Threetrees?" And what was this about a new tree growing? Was Ashstar speaking the truth? Did StarClan really want RiverClan to join the Clans?
